Atlantic City Jewish Businesses Book Now Available in Paperback
If you’ve missed your chance to own a copy of the sold out “A Dream • A Journey • A Community: A Nostalgic Look at Jewish Businesses in and Around Atlantic City,” there’s good news. According to Publisher Rob Huberman, a limited run of 100 copies is being produced in paperback.
“We’ve had continuing requests for the book since it sold out early this year,” Rob said, “ and hope this will satisfy the desire of those who still want take a walk down the memory lane of our community’s rich Jewish history or give a wonderful Hanukkah gift to someone who grew up in the area.”
The 172-page coffee table book takes a nostalgic look at the bygone era of Jewish businesses in and around Atlantic City and contains over 350 photos never seen before in public and dozens of family stories and commentaries reminiscent of Atlantic City’s Jewish business “glory days” – from the turn of the century to the 1970s.
Published by ComteQ Publishing in Margate, the book is categorized into sections covering Apparel, the Boardwalk, Food & Beverage, Hotels & Motels, Restaurants, Theaters & Entertainment, and Wholesale & Retail. It also recognizes the special opportunity Atlantic County provided for Holocaust survivors.
“A Dream • A Journey • A Community” was also honored in 2009 as “Winner” in the National Best Books Awards for “general history” and won a bronze medal in the 2010 Axiom Business Book Awards.
