LEONARD STOMACHIN
Leonard Stomachin, a native of Atlantic City passed away at home at the age of 83 on Saturday morning, September 4, 2010. Lenny was predeceased by his parents, Morris and Esther Stomachin, his beloved wife of 40 years, Judy Stomachin, and his sisters, Anne Weintraub and Ruth Weiss.
Lenny became a Bar Mitzvah at Community Synagogue of Atlantic City and served his country in Heidelberg, Germany during the Korean Conflict. Together with his brother-in-law, Irv Weiss, Lenny was the coowner and operator of M.C. Weiss & Son for 25 years.
Lenny was very involved with issues involving the well being of the State of Israel as well as with many Jewish and Zionist organizations.
After his retirement, Lenny resumed his formal education and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Literary Arts from Stockton State College in 1984. He was an avid reader and maintained an extensive library in his home that included all aspects of history and classic literature.
Lenny’s biking prowess was renowned and his daily routine included 25 mile rides through our community. For many years, Lenny enjoyed being a member of the Amateur Radio Club.
Lenny loved the beach and will forever be remembered for his special deliveries of popsicles to his family and friends on the Mansfield Avenue beach as well as his hosing off of sand on the feet and legs of these same individuals. Lenny is survived by his beloved children, Phyllis Salad (Rob) and Mark Stomachin (Melanie), as well as his beloved grandchildren, Michael and Emily Salad.
