Arianne Brown Arianne Brown, who chanted at Beth El Synagogue while growing up in Margate, and who is now cantor at Sinai Temple in Los Angeles, has recently released

her new CD

"Eternal Flame: A Yiddish Love Story."

Cantor Brown, who is featured along with other members of the Cantors Assembly in a full-length documentary (See story on Page 3) that captures the group's mission to Poland and Israel, has performed off Broadway in "On Second Avenue," and as a soloist at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center.

Along with performances with the Folksbiene Yiddish Theater and movie credits that include a role as a jazz singer in "Reunited," she recently sang the national anthem at Dodger Stadium.

Her new album includes such Yiddish standards as "A Yidishe Mame," "Shloymele Malkele" (with Craig Taubman), Papirosn" and "Ikh Hob Dikh Tusfil Lib."

"My Yiddish love story begins as a young girl with a song I was given to sing at a Yom HaShoah ceremony," she says. "I was captured by the haunting melody, and I wanted to learn the language attached to it - the language in which so many around me laughed and joked and whispered every Shabbes morning.

"I was privileged to grow up in a community and synagogue where I had the opportunity to sing on the bima regularly and to be a part of many community celebrations."

Cantor Brown, who has aspired to become a cantor since the age of eight, graduated from Rutgers University's Mason Gross School of the Arts with Bachelor of Music Education/Voice, and from the Jewish Theological Seminary with a Master of Sacred Music and Master of Jewish Education.

Her trio, Ashira, released an album "Suddenly Spirited" in 2008, featuring original compositions.
