TJCDS Board Unanimously Appoints New Principal

Rabbi Yaacov Orimland Rabbi Yaacov Orimland Along with the students starting the new school year at the Trocki Jewish Community Day School will be its new and committed principal, Rabbi Yaacov Orimland. If the name sounds familiar, “Rabbi O”’s father, Rabbi Gimpel Orimland, served the McKee City Jewish community a generation ago. Like father, like son!

As a teenager, Rabbi O attended yeshivas in New York and Montreal, and got his bachelor’s degree in Religious Education at the Talmudic University of Florida.

After getting married, Rabbi O started his career in education and from then on has devoted his entire life to Jewish Education. His conviction that his profession was a twenty-four hour a day mission quickly propelled him through the ranks as youth director, assistant principal and principal, until he made aliyah in 1996 to the holy city of Tzfat (Safed) where he started a yeshiva/high school. To further his ability to connect with and rescue our youth, Rabbi O earned a degree and a certification as a counselor in alcohol and substance abuse.

Rabbi Orimland has more than 30 years of education experience behind him, and has numerous awards and recognitions for his excellence in community-building and teaching. He and his wife, Suey, were awarded the Community Service Award for their devoted service to the Miami Jewish Community. They were presented this award for their outstanding personification of Jewish ideals.

Rabbi O was also awarded the prized Educators Award, where his genius and creativity was singled out for lasting impact, both in the classroom and in the community. His enthusiasm has ignited the hearts of many of his students - enthusiasm that will remain with those students for all of their lives.

To meet Rabbi O and explore how excellence in Jewish and secular studies might benefit your children or grandchildren, please call the school at 383-8484.
