Community Selichot Concert and Service to be Held at Beth El Synagogue

This year’s community Selichot program will be at Beth El Synagogue on Saturday evening Sept. 4 at 9 p.m. The first part of the evening will be a concert at no charge and open to the whole community.

The evening will open with Havdala, then Cantors Jeffrey Myers, Larisa Averbakh, and Ralph Goren will perform along with various other musicians from Beth El, Beth Judah and Beth Israel. Music from the High Holidays will highlight the evening. Rabbi Aaron Krauss, Rabbi Aaron Gaber and Rabbi David Weis will introduce the pieces that their respective ensembles will perform.

Following the concert, there will be refreshments and a social hour.

Selichot services begins at 11 p.m. with participation from members of the South Jersey Board of Rabbis and Cantors who are sponsoring the entire evening.

Every year Selichot ushers in the High Holiday season. The service contains highlights from both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur and helps us set the mood for the holidays, which begin on Wednesday evening Sept. 8.
