Helen Cohen (nee Lifland) died Saturday, July 17, 2010, in Summit, N.J.

Helen was born in Newark, N.J., and moved to Millburn, N.J., in 1948 and then to Maplewood, N.J., in 2007.

She worked for the Essex County Department of Weights and Measures for 38 years and retired as the oldest county employee. She was a member of Hadassah and a past member of Congregation B’nai Israel in Millburn.

She was the beloved wife of the late Harry G. Cohen; devoted mother of Edward Cohen (Judy) and Susan (Bob) Mayer; loving grandmother of four grandchildren, Stephen (Laura) Cohen, Harris (Cindy) Cohen, Melissa (Scott) Cohen and Mark Mayer; great-grandchildren Gillian and Bram Cohen, Abigail and Sophie Cohen, and Jeff and Rachael Cohen.

Graveside services were private. Contributions in her memory may be made to Congregation Beth Israel, 2501 Shore Road, Northfield, NJ 08225 or to the Foundation of the Jewish Federation, 501 N. Jerome Av., Margate, NJ 08402.
