Persenda, Joseph Anthony, 92, of Egg Harbor Township, (formerly of Atlantic City) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loving family and friends.

Joseph was born in New York, N.Y., and lived for many years in Atlantic City before moving to Egg Harbor Township in 1992. He was inducted into the US Army Sept. 3, 1946, shipped to Japan December 1946 for Occupational Duty and discharged from the Army in 1947.

A graduate of Temple Business School, he then worked for National Department Store in Atlantic City where he met his wife Sara. He also worked at Garwood Mills Department Store in AC. Joseph then took employment with the Federation of Jewish Agencies, working there until his retirement in 1992.

Joseph is predeceased by his parents Sevaina and Giocamo Persenda. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sara (Monreale), son James Persenda of Hamilton Township, daughter Maria Fiola (Frank) of EHT, beloved grandchildren Mia Fiola, Sarina Fiola and greatgrandchild Gianna; sister Mary Janelli (Persenda), sister-in-law Concetta Messina (Monreale), brother-in-law Charles Monreale and beloved nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass for Joseph Anthony Persenda was Celebrated Friday, July 2, 2010, at St. Michael’s Church, Atlantic City. Donations may be made, in his memory, to St. Michael’s Church.
