GOODELMAN, N. HARRY, 81

Goodelman, N. Harry, 81, of Margate City passed away peacefully on June 4, 2010. He was born and raised in Atlantic City.

Harry was a graduate of Atlantic City High School and attended Atlantic City College of Commerce. He served in the Naval Reserve and operated Goodelman’s Liquor Store for 35 years. During that time he was very active in the N.J. State Liquor Association. Harry worked holiday time at the Atlantic City Post Office, ran bingo at Perone Hall for the Knights of Pythias to raise funds for Deborah Hospital, and was a key player in the ACPD forming the initial K-9 unit.

Harry was also involved with the Miss America Organization and other numerous events at Convention Hall for 50 years, distributing programs and souvenirs. Harry also operated the Center Lounge, where his customers and employees thought he was the “greatest.” He was very involved in the Referendum to bring gaming to AC. He was employed at Caesars Casino, where he enjoyed every moment on the craps game.

Harry was Past Chancellor Commander of the Knights of Pythias and also a 50-year member of Justice Lodge #285 of Free and Accepted Masons. He was a founding and lifelong member of Beth El.

Harry was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, H. Ronnie, and brother, Alan. He is survived by his sons, David (Debra) of Margate City and Jay (Deborah) of Las Vegas, NV and grandchildren, Henry and Morgan.

Synagogue services were held Monday at Beth El Synagogue in Margate. A Masonic service was held prior to religious services. Contributions in his memory may be made to Beth El Synagogue, to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, P.O. Box 780, New York, NY 10008-0780, or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements were by ROTHGOLDSTEINS’ MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Atlantic City.
