Suzie & Dean’s Performing Arts Camp at Beth Judah

“A Child is not a vase to be filled, but a fire to be lit.”– Francois Rabelais.

“It is from creativity and imagination that the solutions to our political problems will come.”

Richard Dreyfuss.

“If you want children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales.”– Albert Einstein.

Summer 2010 is nearly upon us, and plans are complete for our 14th year of Performing Arts Camp at the Shore. Each year for the past 14 years we and our talented staff have enjoyed eight weeks filled with workshops teaching music, voice, percussion, acting, staging, creative writing, On Camera commercial, audition technique, hip hop, yoga, martial arts, magic, art and more.

We are fortunate to be working actors, vocalists, dancers, and TV and movie people actively employed in the entertainment business. Sharing our working knowledge and contacts with eager young actors is thrilling and we enjoy it each summer. There are many benefits to learning skills in the performing Arts, even for kids who may not go on in the entertainment industry. Over the years we have seen time and time again the enrichment of skills in selfesteem, poise, articulation and “learning to think on your feet.”

The correlation between musical study and the performing arts resulting in school success has been studied and proven through scientists and psychologists worldwide. In the “Learning Revolution,” Gordon Dryden and Jeanette Voss stress, “The best learning systems...encourage you to use all your intelligences and senses through music, rhythm...emotion and action.”

This summer our big end of the summer show August 16, 17, 18 - “Annie” the full Musical will be a culmination of all the skills we learn daily. Our NYC trip includes orchestra seats and dinner in NYC. We always have extra tickets for parents who would like to purchase the trip and join us.

Special guests this summer include Sal Dupree, vocal instructor to “America’s Got Talent” winner 2008. Sal and I (Suze Neustadter) also performed in the feature film “Standing Ovation” being released in Theatres nationally July 16, starring a talented cast of Teens and Tweens. Some of the actors made surprise visits to camp last summer and will be popping in again for workshops and musical appearances.
