New Torah Course: ‘Cultivating Sensitivity – Going Green in the Bible’

Rabbi Avrohom Rapoport Rabbi Avrohom Rapoport Chabad at the Shore is offering what it calls a “new, exciting and refreshing” Torah course entitled “Cultivating Sensitivity.” This new course on Book of Bamidbar/Numbers focuses on nature and ecology. The curriculum aspires to address and present the Torah’s view on one of today’s most pressing issues: The Environment and Going Green.

What does Torah say about recycling? Does Judaism offer solutions for the energy crisis?

Is Global Warming a real threat? What is the definition of an environmentally sound society? These are just a few of the many topics that will be presented in the course.

“Environmental consciousness goes back farther than you think,” says Rabbi Avrohom Rapoport, the course instructor. “There are many references in the Torah which impress upon us the responsibility to protect our earth. If you are concerned about our environment, and enjoy studying about Judaism, this course is definitely for you!”

The course will begin May 16 and will be offered for 8 consecutive Sundays at the Chabad Ventnor Shul, 6412 Ventnor Ave. in Ventnor, at 10 a.m. Refreshments will be served.

Cultivating Sensitivity is designed for people at all levels of Jewish knowledge. Participants without any prior experience or background in Jewish learning can attend and enjoy this course. All Chabad courses are open to the entire Jewish community, and attendees need not be a member of any particular synagogue or temple.
