GM Hadassah Theater Trip
Golda Meir Hadassah is sponsoring a theater trip to the Starlight Theater in Beach Haven, N.J., on Sunday, June 27. The show, to be presented at a matinee, will be a Broadway musical comedy “Drowsy Chaperone.”
The bus will leave from the JCC in Margate at 10:30 a.m., and arrive at 11:45 a.m. for lunch at the famous Daddy O Restaurant.

Art Show
Seashore Gardens Living Center is collaborating once again with The Noyes Museum of Art to bring a free art exhibit, entitled “Artful Expressions,” to the community, May 16 to 18. The showcase includes artwork from local artists as well as residents of Seashore Gardens Living Center. Artwork will be available for sale during the show. There will be a reception and awards May 16 between 1 and 3 p.m. The exhibit hours are 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. each day. For more information, call 748- 4407.
Trip to NYC
Temple Emeth Shalom will sponsor a day trip to New York City on Wednesday, June 23. The bus leaves the Temple at 8501 Ventnor Ave. in Margate at 8 a.m., returning from New York at 5 p.m. Cost is $35. Call Carol at 822-3940 or BeBe at 822-3682 for reservations and information.
Beth Judah Wildwood to Hold Fashion Show and Luncheon
Beth Judah Temple in Wildwood will be presenting a Fashion Show and Luncheon on Sunday, May 23, at 12 noon. Fashions will be supplied by Talk of the Walk in Stone Harbor. Rabbi Gaber to Speak to Hadassah
Golda Meir Hadassah will present Rabbi Aaron Gaber of Congregation Beth Judah Synagogue in Ventnor, who will speak at Beth El Synagogue in Margate on May 12 about his recent tour to Prague and Israel with the Jewish Federation of Atlantic and Cape May Counties. Beth El Honors JWV Post 39
In observance of Armed Forces Day, Beth El Synagogue will hold a special service honoring the Jewish War Veterans Garr Greenstein Post 39 on Saturday, May 15 at 9:30 a.m.This post has been meeting at Beth El Synagogue for many years and has provided generous support in the form of many scholarships to deserving college students, generous support for the Veterans home in Vineland and the Home of Wounded Veterans in Israel as well as many other acts of charity. This includes providing supplies, snacks, socks and books to our brave men and women in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Members of the post have served our country in war and peace. Commander of Post 39, Bernie Friedenberg, is a much decorated war hero together with other members of the post.

Beth El Shavuot Dinner
Beth El Synagogue will be hosting a Shavuot dairy dinner on Erev Shavuot on Tuesday, May 18 beginning at 6 p.m. Cost for the dinner is $25 for a family of four; $12 for members; $15 non members. After dinner there will be a 7 p.m. service with participation from students.
Following the service, Rabbi Krauss will conduct a Tikun Leil (Study Session) with special guest speakers. Everyone is invited to attend. To make dinner reservations, please contact the Beth El office at 823-2725.
Blood Drive at Beth El
Beth El Synagogue will be hosting a blood drive on Monday, May 24 from noon to 6 p.m. Blood is in very short supply now and with summer coming, there needs to be a substantial supply on hand. “Number the Stars” at Beth Judah
Congregation Beth Judah presents the Fourth Annual showing of the musical “Number The Stars”, an adaptation of the award winning novel by renowned author, Lois Lowry.
Several years ago, the book was adapted as an off- Broadway musical stage production. Sponsored by Congregation Beth Judah, a local group of talented actors from all over Atlantic County is offering performances of this show for the general public on Sunday May 16 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $7 for seniors and children under the age of 12. JCC Brunch & Learn
The Milton and Betty Katz JCC’s next Brunch & Learn will be on Wednesday, May 12, at 10:30 a.m. The speaker will be David Shultz from The Jewish Federation of Atlantic & Cape May Counties. Afterwards, there will be a showing of the award-winning film “Yiddish Theatre: A Love Story.” Following the passionate work of Zypora Spaisman, proprietor of the longest-running Yiddish theater in America, this film traces the roots of Yiddish theater and its evolution.
Spaisman’s devotion to preserving the heritage of this art form while updating it for modern audiences has kept the Lower East Side stage alive while inspiring new generations to continue the legacy.
RNS to Install New President and VPs
RNS (Ruth Newman Shapiro Cancer and Heart Fund) will install its new President Franca Dowe and her Vice Presidents Tammi Pittaro and Joanne Kenny, on Tuesday, May 11, at 12:30 p.m.This year’s event will feature along with the installation a High Tea and a Private Fashion Show featuring clothes from Jones New York. Members of the Board of RNS, Jane Nahas; Tammi Pittaro; Ellen Geiger; Shannon Goff; Shirley Belitsky; Monica Jarvis; Susan Magee and Lois Braithwaite will be the stunning models.
The event will be held at the Ram’s Head Inn and is chaired by Harriet Friedman and Andrea Kleinman, along with their committee of Sheila Fearow, Lynne Walters and Sandy Reisman.

AVODA Sabbath
The Avoda Club will be holding its Annual Sabbath on Friday, May 7, at Temple Emeth Shalom in Margate at 7:30 p.m. During the Service, the winners of this year’s Avoda Awards will be introduced.
The Avoda Club was formed in 1928, and awards have been given out each year to needy and deserving students. Many of these awardees have gone on to become leaders in medicine and the sciences, liberal arts, government, and religion.
JCC to Hold First Annual Mahjong Tournament
The Katz JCC will host its first Mahjong Tournament on Tuesday, June 1, featuring great cash prizes and a delicious brunch buffet. The brunch starts at 10:30 a.m. and game play will begin at 11 a.m. sharp. Groups of four will compete for points.
At the end of 2 1/2 hours (at 1:30 sharp), the player with the highest number of points will be declared the winner.
