WITTMAN, MARVIN J.
Wittman, Marvin J., a long time resident of Margate, passed away Sunday, March 21, at the age of 88, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his son, Robert Wittman and his daughter-in-law, Paula of Newton, MA, his granddaughter Jennifer Wittman Heller, her husband Ted Heller and great grandchildren Jonathan and Kate Heller, as well as his grandson Richard Wittman and his wife Sue Kim. He was preceded in death by his wife and true soul mate and lover, Selma, of 66 years and his son Michael.
Marvin was always more than willing to help others without being asked. During his lifetime, he was an avid volunteer as a Boy Scout Leader of an award winning troop in Margate and was Man of the Year and past President of the Men’s Club at Temple Emeth Shalom. Marvin was a long term volunteer at Shore Memorial Hospital with over 8,500 hours of service. He was a recipient of the Service Above Self Award and numerous other honors.
Marvin was a WWII veteran serving in Normandy and Europe earning 3 Bronze Stars and was manager of Casel’s Supermarket for many years. Marvin wanted to send a special thanks to all his friends at Shore Memorial for being so kind, thoughtful and supportive and making him feel like he was in his second home as well as to all his friends on East Gilmar Circle for making his life there so special.
Graveside services were held Monday, March 22, at the Emeth Shalom Cemetery, Egg Harbor Twp. Contributions in Marvin’s memory may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, www.dana-farber.org. Arrangements were by ROTH-GOLDSTEINS’ MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Atlantic City.
