GAMBERG, JEANNETTE (NEE BROWN)

Gamberg, Jeannette (nee Brown), 78, of Ventnor passed away peacefully Wednesday January 20 surrounded by her loving family. Jeanette was born Feb 18, 1931, in Atlantic City Hospital. She attended Atlantic City Public Schools and was a graduate of ACHS class of 1948.

After graduating, Jeannette began her career in the apparel business. She worked for shops in Atlantic City and then Philadelphia. In the early sixties Jeannette returned to Ventnor to help her mother run Fran’s Children’s Shop. In the late sixties she opened the areas first pre-teen and junior shop, In-B-Teen. As that venture became successful she ventured into larger size fashions opening the Slim View Shop.

At one point Jeannette was running four stores. Years later after downsizing Jeannette renamed the stores, Jenny’s and Jenny’s Plus. About 4 years ago she decided it was time to semi retire and sold her business, still remaining active in the store.

Jeannette is survived by her son Bruce (Susan) Gamberg of Egg Harbor Township. A daughter Beth Wheeler of Atlanta, Georgia. Three grandchildren, Francine (Jared) Kirschenbaum of Egg Harbor Township, Paul Gamberg of Mays Landing and Corey Gamberg of Egg Harbor Township. And her newest pride and joy her great granddaughter Emily Kirschenbaum.

Services were held at Congregation Beth Israel in Northfield on Sunday Jan. 24. Burial was in Emeth Shalom Cemetery in Egg Harbor Township. Contributions may be made to Beth Israel, 2501 Shore Road, Northfield NJ, 08225 in memory of Jeannette.

Arrangements were by ROTH-GOLDSTEINS’ MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Atlantic City.
