Beth Israel Goes Green

Congregation Beth Israel held an Ecofriendly Youth Service on Friday, January 8th. The BITY youth group of Congregation Beth Israel led a special Shabbat service for grades 4-12. All attendees were asked to bring a couple of canned goods, which were donated to the JFS Food Bank. Sophie Richards put together a wonderful, paperless creative service with an eco-friendly theme. Participants from NFTY’s Pennsylvania region also attended and provided the songleader, sharing popular tunes sung at NFTY events and at Camp Harlam. After services the group gathered for Shabbat dinner. Right photo: Sophie Richards leads the eco-friendly service that she created. It’s theme was the environment and the evening was virtually paper free. Top photo: Hank Rich, Brianna Hafetz, Natalie Campbell, Jackie Holtzman, Samantha Malamut and Jane Mittelman join in song.
