Dr. Leon (Lee) E. Schnabel, 49, passed away on January 5, 2010, at home in Germantown Md. after a year-long illness. The cause of his death was a malignant brain tumor.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa, and three children Lindsey, Lauryn, and Logan, and his parents Bill and Nancy Schnabel of Margate, N.J., a brother, Richard Schnabel, and sister, Cindy Schnabel Berman. He was employed at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda Md. He was involved in pediatric cancer research. He grew up in Melrose Park Pa. Funeral services were held in Gaithersburg, Md., on January 7, 2010.
