‘Be the Change You Want to See in the World’
David Ira Schultz
True, you alone can’t end global Jewish hunger. But through Jewish Federation you can bring holiday groceries to a needy family in Atlantic City, serve a hot lunch to a disadvantaged child in Israel, or deliver a food package to a frail senior in the former Soviet Union.
Maybe you alone cannot curtail anti- Semitism, but through Jewish Federation you can educate and empower a Jewish student at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey to answer the hard questions. Perhaps alone you cannot reverse the economic downturn, but through the Jewish Federation you can help pay a Holocaust survivor’s utility bill, buy medicine for a senior on a fixed income, or fund trauma counseling for an Israeli child.
That’s what happens when you perform tzedakah through Jewish Federation. Real, live people get the help they need. By practicing tikkun olam, you really do begin to repair the world, one life at a time.
When each of us gives, we harness the collective power of our generosity. Together, we can do even more than any of us can do alone. It’s the power of community, the secret of our survival, and it’s what will get us through these challenging times.
There are still a few days left in the 2009 Jewish Federation Annual Campaign, and there are people who really do need your help. Each contribution matters. Please, before time runs out, be the change you want to see in the world. Make your generous gift to the Jewish Federation Annual Campaign today.
