PSYCHOLOGIST MURRAY GEGNER AND MAE LEAVING AREA AFTER HIS ILLUSTRIOUS CAREER
As a psychologist Murray Gegner (Ph.D. has chalked up 54 years in an illustrious career, but all good things at some time have to be concluded and at the end of this month Murray and Mae are leaving for an assisted living facility near their daughter’s home in New Hope, Pa. After his more than half century in Margate, Dr. Gegner can look back at a career with much satisfaction and accomplishments. His career was launched in 1955 at Ancora State Hospital starting the Alcoholics Anonymous program, followed by founding the local Diabetic Assn. for families suffering from that disease. “Later Senator Frank Farley spearheaded passage of a law licensing marriage counselors, including myself, appointing me to the state’s licensing board.” Another accomplishment occurred when Superior Court Judge James Cafiero, with the late AC Press reporter Sonny Schwartz and Pinky Kravitz, launched the Big Brothers Assn. of Atlantic County naming him its first director. “Over the years I crossed paths with many outstanding local people and I wish every one of you the very best life has to offer.” HM wishes Murray and Mae a great retirement. You earned it and we’ll miss you.
