SYLVIA FREED, 85
Sylvia Freed, 85, of Galloway Twp., and formerly of Margate, passed away on Nov. 27, 2009. Born in New York City, she was a longtime local resident. Her life revolved around her husband and family. They owned and operated Arnie’s restaurant in Margate where they worked tirelessly side by side. After her husband’s death in 2000, it was her love for her grandson, Douglas Freed, that truly kept her going.
Sylvia was an auxiliary member of the Jewish War Veterans and a member of Beth El Synagogue, where she was once named a “Woman of Valor” by the Beth El Sisterhood.
Sylvia is survived by her loving daughter, Lynne Freed, and beloved grandson, Douglas Freed. She is also survived by her daughter, Roberta Freed; son, Howard (Rosie) Freed and grandchildren, Abby and Derek Freed.
Graveside services were held Sunday, Nov. 29, at Beth Kehillah Cemetery in Egg Harbor Twp. Contributions in Sylvia’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s research. Arrangements were by ROTHGOLDSTEINS’ MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Atlantic City.
