Elaine Geller to be Honored at Shabbat Services

On Friday evening, November 20th, Temple Emeth Shalom in Margate will honor Elaine Geller during Shabbat Services, which begin at 7:30 p.m., for having been the local recipient of the nationally known 2009 Grinspoon-Steinhart Awards

Ms. Geller was nominated by her synagogue’s leadership and was chosen by the community’s Board of Jewish Education to be the local nominee. She was one of only 59 chosen throughout North America.

In addition to the recognition she is the recipient of a generous financial award by the G-S Foundation, which is being matched by her synagogue, to be used for furthering her own Jewish education credentials.

During the service, Board of Jewish Education Executive Director Linda Kulp will present the award to Ms. Geller, who was also honored earlier this month at the General Assembly Meetings of the Jewish Federations of North America in Washington, D.C.

The community has been invited to join the services at Temple Emeth Shalom. Says Kulp, “Elaine deserves much recognition and our thanks for her devotion to Jewish education in our community over many, many years,” said Kulp. “She has been the face of Jewish education in her synagogue community and has been a teacher and administrator at the Trocki Jewish Community Day School for over 22 years.”
