Avoda Installation
Dinner
At a Dinner Dance at the May's Landing Country Club, the new Avoda Officers for the coming year were installed. In his inimitable, humorous manner, MC Jerry Olen discharged the 2008-2009 officers, praising them for all of their work. A special tribute was given to the outgoing Nassi, Jerry Savoy. We were afforded a special treat with the installation of the new officers by Shy Kramer, assisted by his lovely wife, Janet. Each positon was represented by a different tree, appropriately symbolizing the job to be done. The new incoming Nassi, Erwin Markman, became the Redwood tree, the strongest, oldest, tallest tree in the forest. The evening was a delight, with our lovely ladies decked out in their finery, and the men in tuxedos or dark suits. The live band was great and we were entertained by and danced to the music of the Jim Bonny orchestra. During the evening, Prof. Leo Lieberman was sworn in as the new Chaplain to replaced the late beloved Rabbi Seymour Rosen

JCC Brunch & The Inner Light of
Chanukah
Come to the Katz JCC on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at 10:30 a.m. for the next JCC Brunch & Learn event. Rabbi Avi Rappoport from Chabad will speak about Harnessing the Inner Light Of Chanukah.
Join in for a discussion of the story of Chanukah and how the morals, traditions and story of the ancient holiday are more relevant today than ever. The film “Decoding the Past, Secrets of Kabbalah” will be shown on the JCC’s big screen following the discussion.
Once the exclusive domain of ultra-religious male students of Judaism, the ancient philosophy of Kabbalah has found a resurgence in recent years. This film traces Kabbalah from its ancient roots to its modern-day incarnation.
The event is free and open to the entire community. Please RSVP to Josh Cutler, JCC Program Director at 822-1167 ext. 138 or email JCutler@jccatlantic.org
