Annual Red Tie
Gala
Deborah Hospital Foundation will hold its fourth annual Red Tie Gala on Saturday, Nov. 7, at The Hyatt Regency Philadelphia, at Penn’s Landing at 6:30 p.m. Former Congressman Jim Saxton (R- 3rd Congressional District) has been named as the event’s inaugural honoree.
The full evening of festivities kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with silent and live auctions, a spectacular dinner, special guest entertainment, and dancing until 11:30 p.m. to Big Ric and Vegas. Tickets are $250, and proceeds of the evening benefit Deborah Heart and Lung Center, which in 87 years has never billed a patient and has provided heart, lung, and vascular care to all, regardless of their ability to pay.

RNS Rose Ball
One of the most anticipated events of the fall season is the Ruth Newman Shapiro (RNS) Cancer and Heart Fund’s annual Ball. This year’s exciting theme will feature “The Rose Ball.” The ball will honor the founder of RNS, Rose Newman. A spectacular evening has been planned by the chairs: Mr., & Mrs. Howard Berger and Mr.& Mrs. Harold Moskowitz. Co-chairs are: Honorable & Mrs. Dennis Braithwaite; Mr. & Mrs. Jonathan Law; Ms. Jane Nahas; Mr. & Mrs. David Sparenberg; and Dr. & Mrs. William Vilensky. Advisor: Mrs. Joanne Reilly. This annual event will be held in the “The Ballroom” at the Tropicana Casino Resort on Saturday evening, November 7th. The black tie evening begins with cocktails at 7:00 p.m. followed by dinner at 8:00 p.m. The evening’s music will be provided by the Eddie Bruce Orchestra.

Exercise Class
Beth El Sisterhood will be hosting an hour of exercise, “Moving with MaryAnn,” Monday, November 9th beginning at 7 p.m. Maryann teaches classes at the Milton & Betty Katz Jewish Community Center in Margate. The hourlong class will consist of chair aerobics and senior exercises and exercises that can be done at home. Dress casually. Light refreshments will be served. Beth Judah Men’s
Club Ronald M. Shapiro, sports agent, author, attorney, educator, civic leader and expert negotiator will address the Beth Judah Men’s Club at an open meeting and breakfast at the synagogue on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 9 a.m. The event is open to anyone wishing to attend.
Shapiro, noted agent for Cal Ripken, Brooks Robinson and Eddie Murray among others, was named by The Sporting News as one of the “most powerful people in sports.” Through his negotiation skills, numerous disputes and strikes have been settled. His talk will focus on his recent book “Dare to Prepare” and how it can be used to meet the many challenges we face in our lives.
Minyan will be at 9 a.m. followed by a full breakfast at which Shapiro will speak. There will a charge of $10 for non-members of the Men’s Club; children under 12 will be admitted free.

Golda Meir Hadassah will present “Challenges to Israel Today” on November 18, at Beth El Synagogue, on Jerome Ave. in Margate. Our speaker will be Rabbi Aaron Krauss.

Gets Perking
Beth El Synagogue will feature much of its home grown talent at a Coffee House on Sunday, Nov. 15, at 4 p.m., in the Social Hall.
Featured performers will include Nancy Kahane, Kim Septynski, Cheryl Lees, Denise Borisch, Marilyn Kessler and the whole Beth El Choir.

BJE Book Club
BJE Book Club and friends with guest speaker Bertram Korn, Jr. speaking about the history of the Jews during the Civil War period – he wil also speak about his late father, Rabbi Bertram Korn and his book American Jewry & the Civil War. The Nutcracker
The Atlantic City Ballet, a professional ballet company, has performed the full-length version of the Nutcracker annually to sold-out houses in Central and South Jersey for the past twenty-five years. The company has performed at various venues, including casinos and state and county colleges.
Nutcracker is a family tradition that embodies the holiday spirit. It has been enjoyed by young and old and remains the most popular attended ballet in history. George Balanchine was the first to bring this ballet to the United States from Russia where it was initially unsuccessful. Nutcracker is now the most famous of all ballets.
The company consists of 22 professional dancers from the U.S., Latvia, Korea, Japan, Georgia, Australia, China and Israel. The production is choreographed and directed by Miss Phyllis Papa, the founding director of the company. Miss Papa’s credits include: Principal dancer with the Royal Danish Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and Stars of the American Ballet. She is also the recipient of the 1998 Brazilian Gold Medal of Honor. Miss Papa has choreographed over 30 ballets for the Atlantic City Ballet.
The Atlantic City Ballet is a non-profit organization that has been in existence since 1982. Nutcracker has become a staple ballet for the company since it screation. The company performs Nutcracker every November and December because of popular demand. This ballet is perfect for the balletomane as well as a newcomer to the ballet. The ballet has beautiful costumes and scenery. The music will enchant you. This is a must see.

Hanukkah Bazaar
Forget navigating the crowds in malls and driving up and down the aisles trying to find parking and have fun shopping for a unique holiday gift or find a fabulous treasure of your own at Congregation Beth Judah’s annual Hanukkah Bazaar, Sunday, December 6, 2009, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event, sponsored by the Beth Judah Sisterhood, raises funds for youth programs and activities in the synagogue and surrounding communities.
A spectrum of specialty vendors including Simply Fabulous Belt Buckles, The Schnecken Connection homemade baked goods and Lilli's Scarves will be selling a unique selection of clothing, accessories, jewelry, gift sets and home décor. The Beth Judah Gift Shop will also be open, offering a fine array of Judaica and holiday items. A delicious kosher lunch will be for sale. Kids will enjoy hands-on crafts, video games and even face painting. Ample parking is available.
