Jewish Author Series Appearance Rescheduled

2009-11-06 / Community

Author David Kushner’s appearance as part of the JCC’s Jewish Author series has been rescheduled for Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m.

Kushner is a contributing editor of Wired, Rolling Stone and Maxim Magazine. Kushner has also written for publications including the New York Times, Spin, Details and the Village Voice.

In his newest book, “Levittown: Two Families, One Tycoon and the Fight for Civil Rights in America’s Legendary Suburb,” he explores the events that unfolded in 1957 when one entrepreneurial family helped thousands of people buy into the American dream of owning a home.

There, in Levittown, a white Jewish family secretly arranges for a black family to purchase the house next door. The explosive reaction would transform their lives, and the nation, leading to the downfall of a titan and the integration of the most famous suburb in the world.

Levittown is a story of hope and fear, invention and rebellion, and the power that comes when ordinary people take an extraordinary stand.

Tickets for this engagement are $7 and may be purchased at the JCC Front Desk, and may also be ordered by phone or by email to blacovara@jccatlantic.org. For information, call Bonnie at 822-1167 Ext. 115.
