Bay-Atlantic Symphony Gets $40,000 Grant The Bay-Atlantic Symphony has been awarded a $40,000 grant from the New Jersey Cultural Trust. Of 91 arts, music, and dance organizations to apply for Cultural Trust funds during this grant cycle, the Symphony was among 15 qualified organizations to receive grants, which are intended for projects and activities ranging from planning, building cash reserves, capacity building, and development and marketing activities. “The cultural community is an important component in New Jersey's economy, and the Cultural Trust has always been intended as a means to help sustain organizations at all stages of development,” said Josh Weston, the Cultural Trust's chairman. The New Jersey Cultural Trust, a division of the Department of State, has a mission to ensure a stable and healthy cultural industry within the state that is sustainable under fluctuating economic times. “We are most grateful to the Cultural Trust for their generous support, which will help us to continue bringing fine classical music to newer and larger audiences throughout South Jersey,’ said Bay-Atlantic Symphony Executive Director Paul D. Herron. “We are proud of our ability to have sustained – and even expanded – our level of service during these tough economic times and this grant will allow us to continue our mission.’ The Bay-Atlantic Symphony, now in its 26th year, provides classical music concerts and music education lectures throughout Cumberland, Atlantic, Cape May, and Gloucester counties. The orchestra-in-residence of the Guaracini Fine and Performing Arts Center at Cumberland County College, the Richard Stockton College Performing Arts Center, Rowan University, the Cape May Music Festival, and the Avalon Symphony by the Sea Series, it has received worldwide exposure through its appearance on National Public Radio's Weekend Edition. The Symphony opens its subscription season on November 6, 7, and 8 with concerts featuring the music of Gioacchino Rossini, Felix Mendelssohn, and the second performance ever of Gaetano Panariello’s Triple Concerto (Homage to Opera Buffa), commissioned by the concert's soloists – the dynamic Poulenc Trio.
