ZEVIN, JANICE, 82
Zevin, Janice, 82, of Northfield, died Sunday, Oct. 25, at the Mainland Campus of AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. Born in Atlantic City, she was a lifelong area resident, and lived in Margate for 47 years.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Michael Pollock of Northfield; her son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Lynn Zevin of Highland Park; and five grandchildren: Alisa Zevin of New York, Shari and Rochelle Zevin of Highland Park, and Jeremy and Leah Pollock of Northfield. She was predeceased by her husband, Irwin Zevin, and her brother, William Harris.
She had long been active in the area’s Jewish community. She and her husband formerly owned and operated the Seabright Hotel on Rhode Island Avenue in Atlantic City, as well as Irwin’s TV Service, and she served for many years with the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services, retiring as a senior clerk transcriber.
Throughout her life, she had been a passionate supporter of the Jewish community in the Atlantic City region. She had been an officer of Beth Jacob Sisterhood in Atlantic City, where she often called bingo, and was active in the Women’s Auxiliary of the Knights of Pythias, where she regularly served as auctioneer for the annual Penny Auction. In later years, she enjoyed regular visits to the Rosin Center in Atlantic City, where she played cards, enjoyed the company of close friends, and participated in various other activities. She was widely regarded for her wit and humor, as well as her passion for the poker machines at the Atlantic City Hilton and Trump Plaza.
Funeral Services were held at Rodef Sholom Synagogue at Plaza and Atlantic Avenues in Atlantic City on Monday. Interment followed at the Rodef Sholom Cemetery in Egg Harbor Township.
