Katz JCC Welcomes New Youth and Teen Director

The Katz JCC has announced the addition of Robyn King to its staff as the new Youth and Teen Director. King grew up in West Bloomfield, Mich., where she was very involved in her synagogue’s youth choir, Hebrew school, and in the Detroit JCC camps.

Robyn King Robyn King In addition, she was involved in BBYO and taught Hebrew school for children ages 5 to 7. She attended Michigan State University where she was active in Hillel.

King started as a pre-school teacher at the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center in Phoenix and was later promoted to the position of Youth Services Coordinator, where she supervised their Afterschool Program, Family Programs, Jewish Holiday Programs and Birthday Parties. In addition, she created all of the Specialty camps at the JCC Shemesh Day camp.

King is active in the JCC Association and recently served as a group educator for JCC Maccabi Israel Birthright program. She said she is very excited about bringing new programs to the Katz JCC, including the return of the JCC Teen Dances and Sports Nights, Teen Lounge Tournaments, Ski Trips, Parents Night Out and Sunday Fundays.

She also will be the new director of The JCC Teen Travel Camp – Road Rulz. In the summer of 2010 she will bring dozens of local teens on interesting road trips to Montreal, Toronto, Virginia, Maryland, Connecticut and Upstate New York.

She said she is looking forward to making her home in Longport and is very excited about becoming part of the community.
