BJE Plans to Honor Retired Judaica Teachers

The Board of Jewish Education has announced that it will honor the community’s retired teachers of Judaica, who have offered so much to the youth they inspired, on Saturday evening, Jan. 30, 2010.

The ceremony will be part of a community-wide welcome weekend to PIZMON – the accapella singing group of the The Jewish Theological Seminary and List College of New York. The “recognition and thank you” ceremony honoring the teachers will take place following the PIZMON concert.

The teachers’ names will become part of a Wall of Honor for Judaic educators at the Board of Jewish Education offices within the Jewish Federation of Atlantic and Cape May offices in Margate.

The weekend is being chaired by a community committee led by Elizabeth DeShields, a member of the Board of Directors of the Board of Jewish Education. The Saturday night portion of the entire weekend is being chaired by Joyce Bank, past president of the BJE.

Those who know of teachers who they feel should be included in those being honored should call Linda Kulp at the BJE at 822-1854 or email her before Nov. 15 at bjeatlnj@yahoo.com.
