2009-10-23 / Obituaries

Herbert Levine, 89, of Margate, passed away suddenly on October 17, 2009. Herb was a selfmade businessman in the south Jersey area. He opened the first of many laundromats in the Atlantic City area and he was a successful real estate developer and a contributor to many organizations.

Herb, with his sparkly eyes and smiling face, never failed to tell his Rochelle that he loved her several times a day, accompanied with an occasional pat on the tush. Herb is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rochelle (nee Weiss); his sons, Dr. Larry (Sharon) Levine of Linwood and Steven (Sindy) Levine of Margate; his sister, Leona Fried of Delray, FL; his childhood best friend, Manny Rothman of Philadelphia; and his grandchildren, who were truly his pride and joy, granddaughters, Alexandra, Samantha and Taylor and his only grandson, Max.

With great love, Herb's memory will be carried on.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 19, at Beth El Synagogue in Margate. Interment followed in Rodef Sholom Cemetery in Egg Harbor Township. Contributions in Herb's memory may be made to the Katz Jewish Community Center or the Jewish Federation of Atlantic and Cape May Counties, both at 501 N. Jerome Avenue, Margate, NJ 08402.
