JERUSALEM (JTA) — Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat will run in the New York City Marathon.

Barkat, who announced his participation this week as part of a fall tour of North America, will run to raise awareness of Jerusalem as the top destination site for tourists and pilgrims in the world, according to his office.
