Jewish Author Series Continues at Katz JCC

2009-10-16 / Front Page

The Katz JCC Jewish Author series continues with Mark Ozer, author of "The Litvak Legacy" on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 7:30 p.m.

Ozer studied modern European history at Harvard and went on to pursue a career in Neuroscience. After the publication of his book The Litvak Legacy, he has toured the country, lecturing extensively on the history of cities throughout the world.

"Litvaks," the Jewish inhabitants of Lita, formed a distinct culture that differed in its Yiddish dialect as well as the character of their Jewish religion. The Great Migration from Lita occurred in the period of the latter third of the 19th century, and in the 20th century prior to the First World War, but extended through World War II. Even beyond the Holocaust, the few survivors continued to bear witness to its memory.

You will have an opportunity to discover the legacy of this little known group as author Mark Ozer, a Litvak himself, tells the fascinating story of "The Litvak Legacy."

Tickets for this program are $7 and can be purchased at the Katz JCC by calling 822-1167 ext. 115.
