Mahjong, Cards & Friends
Congregation Beth Israel presents "Games Girls Play, An Evening of Mahjong, Cards & Friends," on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 7 to 10 p.m., at 2501 Shore Road, Northfield N.J.
Players will enjoy a night of play at mahjong, bridge or canasta, as well as a wine and cheese spread and dessert. Prizes will be awarded for the most games won at each table. Each player will receive a favor.
Players are invited to bring their own groups or ask organizers to match them at their level of play. Seating is limited and pre-registration is required. Medical Awareness Seminar
The Herman Pogachefsky Senior Services Pavilion of BERON-JOAS will be hosting a Medication Awareness Seminar on Wednesday, October 14, at 11 a.m. Dr. Ira Stein, medical director of the Dr. Leonard B. Erber Medical Center and Steven Chang, pharmacist, will present informtaion on the safe use of taking medication. Individual medication reviews will be provided. JCC Evening of Dinner & Dancing
On Thursday, October 15, 5:30 - 8:00 p.m., The Katz JCC will host another elegant evening of delicious kosher food, wonderful ambiance and great music from the 40's and 50's to dance the night away to. Fall Fun in Smithville
The Village Greene in Hisoric Smithville will be the place for fun this fall. An Irish festival will be held on Oct. 10 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The festival will feature an Irish market offering a variety of wares, plus music in three locations. Music will be on two stages featuring Jamie & the Quiet Man, Nabodach, The Bantry Boys and the Barley Boys.
The Halloween Train will be running every day 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. October 10 thru 31. Whimsical and scary decorations are scattered throughout the ride. The cost is $2.00 per rider.
The Corvette Show will be held on Oct. 18 (Raindate Oct. 25) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show is sponsored by The Original Garden State Corvette Club and will display more than 100 Corvettes. For more information contact John at johnred61@verizon.net. The show is free.

Free Hearing Seminar

FELS of Stockton Study Groups and Luncheon
The Friends of Encore Learning of Stockton (FELS) is offering two interesting events. The first is a selection of study groups for members. Each meets monthly for six sessions beginning in October.
The groups are varied and include Art Appreciation, American Short Stories, Documentary Films, Opera, A Day With Flowers, Plays From the Contemporary American Theater, and Creative Writing. There are 13 selections in all.

The second offering is the FELS Fall Luncheon being held at The Crab Trap in Somers Point Friday, Oct. 16, at 11:30 a.m.. Beth Judah Temple in Wildwood is having a yard sale on Oct. 16 and Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days.
MAPS Foundation Broadway Costume Sale
Hundreds of Maps Foundation of South Jersey costumes are coming out of the closet just in time for Halloween trick and treating. The MAPS first public sale in six years will be held October 17, 11-5 p.m. at Dance Forum South Studio. 140B South New York Road, (Rt. 9) in Smithville. Phone number is 652-0631.
The costumes are for women and men, and anyone in between, from the roaring 20's to "CATS" to Disney. Many of the costumes are hand made by professional costume designers from the Richard Stockton College of NJ and a New York costume company.
MAPS is selling out their inventory of costumes and accessories used in fundraising shows, highlighting classic "Broadway" music. All proceeds from the sale will be used to serve the organization's client base of those afflicted with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Multiple Sclerosis.
The inventory includes adult gowns, hats, jewelry and modern jackets, glittery vests, trousers and children's dress apparel. Holiday gift wrap supplies are also being sold.
"We are expecting everyone from moms and kids to theater designers to fashionistas to raid our closets," commented MAPS founder, Rose Silverman. "The Costume Sales is a unique opportunity for the public to peak behind our closet doors and accesss professionally crafted costuming at deep discounts."
MAPS volunteers will be on hand to serve as "personal shoppers" and stylists, and to provide background information regarding the costumes. Dressing areas will be available. For more information regarding costume details contact Rose Silverman 822-9093.
Beth El Holiday Bazaar
