RUTH BLOOM PREIS

Ruth Bloom Preis, formerly of Atlantic City, and a resident of New York City and Bal Harbour, Florida, died on June 13, 2009. Born in Atlantic City to Morris and Ethel Bloom who were founders of Congregation Beth Judah, she was a graduate of Atlantic City High School, and lived in the Atlantic City area for 65 years. She owned The Needle Craft Shop, a widely known destination for designer women's clothing, with her husband Maurice J. Preis, from 1934 until 1980.

She is survived by her loving family, son Alan and wife Sue Preis of East Hanover, NJ, and grandson Michael Preis of New York City, as well as devoted nieces and nephew Margie Berk, Jane Feldman, and David Soltz. She was predeceased by husband Maurice J. Preis, second husband Hyman Goldberg and beloved sisters Leona Soltz and Lucille Lipschutz.

Respected and admired by all who knew her, she was a keenly intelligent businesswoman and a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and dear friend to many. Funeral services were held June 16, at Congregation Beth Judah, Ventnor, NJ. Interment was in Beth Kehillah Cemetery in Egg Harbor Twp., NJ. Donations may be made to Beth Judah Library Fund c/o Congregation Beth Judah or to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangments were by ROTH-GOLDSTEINS' MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Atlantic City.
