In 2009, the Milton & Betty Katz JCC will welcome six Israeli counselors from Margate's sister community Arad/ Tamar to work at Camp By The Sea.

In the months of June, July and August, these specialists, ages 20-23, teach campers the history and culture of Israel through stories, games, songs, dance and crafts.

The JCC is now recruiting host families to house one of these shlichim (emissaries) for 2-4 week intervals during the summer. Camp Director Josh Cutler said of the program "This is an amazing opportunity to bond and create lifelong friendships with these dynamic individuals and grow closer to Israel. This is something small one can do to help build the bridge between our two communities and cultures."
