CHILDREN OF AMERICAN JEWS CONTENT WITH LIFE IN ISRAEL INCLUDE THOSE FROM AREA
There are many children of North American Jews who feel content with their lives after settling in Israel and they include several young settlers from the Jewish Times coverage area. Among them that HM knows about as we continue our search for others are Beth Judah Cantor Emeritus Ed Kulp and Linda Kulp, parents of Dr. Joshua Kulp (Ph.D.) raised in Margate and his family, and Charlotte Berger and myself, parents of Ellen Yishai, and her family, a Margate and Northfield native. The Kulps and Bergers belong to Parents of North American Israelis (PNAI) headquarted in Philadelphia, which publishes "The Bridge," featuring stories and other items linking the parents living in North America and their children in Israel. There are many other parents in our area and HM wants them to contact me so we can list their names. My email and fax number are listed at the top of the column. BRIDGE editor Gloria Schlosberg says "We are always looking for items about your children in Israel and I can be reached personally at 215-557-9585 to talk about joining PNAI." Their address is 1900 JFK Boulevard No. 1614, Phila., Pa. 19103.
FUTURE THEATER, TV, MOVIE STARS BORN ON LOCAL STAGES LIKE MARGATE'S TIGHE SCHOOL
A good place for a youngster to develop talents that could lead to a career in theater, TV or movies are the many local community theaters around the country such as the Margate PAC connected to the Tighe School on Amherst Avenue. If a child has the ambition and persistence to launch a theatrical career, Margate's PAC is a good place to start.
Brooke Feldman at this stage in her quest to aim for a theater career is off to a good start selected for the role as Annie in the Tighe School's production of "Annie" set for Jan. 29 and 31. The talented youngster is the daughter of Dr. Alan Feldman (physician) and Barbara Steinberg, and the sister of Brett, has appeared in many prior shows, most recently as Alice in "Alice and Wonderland" last summer. HM hears she is good and could be a future star. Good luck Brooke, your potential is great.
JEFF VASSER AIDED BY ELAINE ZAMANSKY TO DIRECT PHILLY GENEALOGY CONFERENCE PR
Philadelphia will host the next Jewish Genealogy Conference. While it is months away, Aug. 2-7, planning is underway and publicizing it is in the capable hands of AC Convention Authority CEO Jeff Vassar, assisted by his highly competent media manager, Elaine Shapiro Zamansky. Be assured that Vasser and Zamansky will do a good job of getting the word out. Conference co-chair David Mink said, "Philadelphia has a rich and lengthy Jewish history so it is appropriate to hold the conference here and the conference will include sessions with a Philadelphia flavor." HM notes that many area residents came here from the Quaker City so they can relate to the subjects covered by the conference. Mink declared, "Due to historical events that have torn Jewish families apart for centuries many American Jews feel they are unable to trace their family history past their grandparents." The conference, he said, will change all that.
BIG MEDICAL CAREER STEP FOR PEARL AND HARRY MIZRAHI GRANDSON - GETTING HIS WHITE COAT
Donning a white coat is a prestigious step for a medical student as he advances towards a medical career - and taking that step recently was Daniel Mizrahi, grandson of Pearl and Harry Mizrahi. Daniel, a first-year medical student at Temple University - at a ceremony witnessed by his grandparents - received his white coat. "We are very proud of Daniel's big step and his pursuit of an MD," declared the Mizrahis. Another key step in his medical career pursuit was an event while attending the University of Southern California where he obtained his undergraduate degree. "While attending USC Daniel was introduced to the Global Medical Brigade Chapters . . . discussing summer plans with other students plans were made to raise money to pay for their schooling," stated Pearl and Harry, adding "they went to Honduras helping doctors there raise funds to help patients pay for needed health care and they plan to return next summer." The group wants to extend their mission and anyone interested in information on the Mission and donating funds - - Dmizrahi1985@Gmail.com. It sounds like a worthy cause and HM wishes Daniel success in this venture. Daniel's parents are Jay and Cheryl Mizrahi, who live in a Mainland community.
