I just read the article "Boardwalk Holocaust Memorial" (Nov. 29, 2008) about Rabbi Geller's "dream" to erect such a monument on the Boardwalk.
Let me state univocally that I am totally opposed to such a sacred place in that location.
Who am I? I am a Jewish woman in my eighties from Germany who lost many relatives and friends in the Holocaust. (At the time, the United States had a quota of 29,000 immigrants from Germany annually, [Jew or non-Jew]).
Memorials are sacred places and the Boardwalk is and should remain dedicated to fun and relaxation.
Please! No Holocaust Memorial on the Boardwalk.
Sincerely, Stefanie Pearlstein Bridgeton, NJ
