The City of Atlantic City is donating a pavilion on its Boardwalk that will house the future site of what is being described as a world-class memorial honoring the victims of the Holocaust.

The committee spearheading the drive to establish the memorial said that there will be a formal announcement of the memorial site at a press conference to be held Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the pavilion on the Boardwalk between New York and Kentucky avenues at 3:30 p.m.

This past summer, Rabbi Gordon Geller of Temple Emeth Shalom in Margate, and Kaleem Shabazz, acting director of the Atlantic City Art Center, two community leaders behind the memorial project, said that the estimated cost would be about $3 million, all of which will come from private donations.

ONE BOOK, ONE JEWISH COMMUNITY AT THE SHORE. Tania Grossinger, author of "Growing Up at Grossingers," tells tales of life at the famous Borscht Belt hotel during her childhood, why the Catskills hotels were so important and what brought about their eventual demise. The Board of Jewish Education event honored the memory of Mosheh Math's parents - Rabbi Stanley and Roslyn Math - and their committment to Jewish education in the community.
Maintenance of the memorial will also be privately funded and no taxpayer money will be used.

Rabbi Geller said that those who have taken on the "sacred task of ensuring that the Shoah and other genocides be remembered and not be forgotten; understand that outreach to large numbers of the community at large is of utmost importance."
