Iris Harari Iris Harari The Board of Jewish Education has announced the start of IVRIT B'KULAM, HEBREW FOR ALL, starting on Monday evening, Oct. 27, and meeting every week (except for some vacation time) through the end of March, 2009. The program, funded in part by a generous grant from the Foundation of the Jewish Federation of Atlantic and Cape May Counties, will offer conversational Hebrew language at two different class levels.

The Beginners Level will meet from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. This will essentially be for people who have no Hebrew spoken language capability or a very modest one. From 7:30 to 8:15 p.m., another class will take place on what is being referred to as an Intermediate Level. At this class it is hoped that simple conversation along with reading and talking about simple current events will be the fare of the evening.

Iris Harari, long time and well-respected teacher of Hebrew language and Judaica, will teach the course and at the first session will be available to help students decide at which level they are best suited. Harari, who resides in Philadelphia, is Israeli born and educated. She teaches in various venues in our community, including the High School of Jewish Studies and Beth Judah's religious school, and has been a long time teacher at the Trocki Hebrew Academy.

Says BJE Adult Education Vice-President Barbara Lenett, "Because the program is heavily funded by the Foundation, student costs for the program will only be $40/person plus books as needed for the full series of about 20 weeks. At the first class a full calendar of session dates will be given to each student. BJE says that it is pleased that the Milton and Betty Katz JCC of Margate will play host to the program. All classes will be held there on the second floor.

BJE calls this program" a bargain...and a wonderful chance for adults to learn, to schmooze and to get more comfortable in a semi-social setting." Class size is limited and it is requested that you call Linda Kulp at the BJE at 822- 1854 to get further information.
