JCDS gains expertise of volunteer educators
Neil Brandt The Jewish Community Day School of Atlantic and Cape May Counties has announced that two local educators of excellence have joined their volunteer faculty to enhance and enrich the learning experiences of the student body. Neil Brandt, recently retired educator from the Atlantic City School system and presently an adjunct instructor of world religions at the Atlantic Cape Community College, has joined the faculty to work as a History and Holocaust Consultant/Instructor. Mr. Brandt, who taught in the Atlantic City system for nearly 30 years, holds a BA from Penn State University and a Masters of Arts degree in Education and one in Holocaust/ Genocide Studies from both Beaver College and the Richard Stockton College. While in Atlantic City Brandt served on the Social Studies and Curriculum Task Force for the district. He joins Ida Margolis, recently retired educator from the Ocean City School District. Margolis served as the Social Studies Department Supervisor there and also as an adjunct professor at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. She also is presently on the adjunct faculty of Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Student Personnel Services from Rowan University and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Temple University. She holds NJ Certificates as a Teacher of Social Studies, Psychology as well as a Supervisor Certificate in Student Personnel. Says Nachum Chasan, Headmaster at the JCDS, "We consider ourselves so fortunate to have two educators of excellence added to our secular faculty. This adds immeasurably to the varied education experience from which our youth are able to benefit."
