Rosh Hashonah in London proved to be an inspiring holiday for area attorney Robert Glaymon and his wife, Stephanie (Galloway Township), to visit their son David and his wife, Kathleen, and to celebrate their grandson Wyatt's second birthday. David manages a European Hedge Fund in London. Stephanie and Robert celebrated the Jewish New Year worshipping in London's Liberal (reform) Congregation. "It was a wonderful family reunion," said the Glaymons. There followed another enjoyable three-day visit to fascinating and historic Prague, noted for its architectural splendor and centuries old landmark buildings, especially its Jewish Quarter. The Glaymons describe this part of their journey: "Our guide took us around where we learned much about the Jews of Bohemia and Moravia, which became Czechoslovakia, and saw the amazing collections of Jewish ceremonial objects collected there during World War II and stored there by the Nazis." Another guide took the Glaymons to the Nazi death camps at Terezin. "And since the history of the Terezin fortress, which became the camp, was fascinating and as the grandparents of five little grandchildren seeing this place got to us since many children perished here. . . .we were impressed by the number of children and adult tourists visiting the Jewish Quarter. And as classical music lovers we heard the world renowned Czech Philharmonic Orchestra." And they concluded, "Indeed, it was a memorable trip and our dream is a second trip to Australia to see another son and his family in Melbourne....some day."
AIPAC'S HOLIDAY ISRAEL CONNECTION HAS ENDORSEMENT OF RABBI AARON GABER
With Rabbi Aaron Gaber's endorsement of the "American Israel Public Affairs" Holiday "Israel Connection" the many items it published in the current issue indicates America's pro-Israel lobby is focusing its attention defending Israel's efforts to survive a callous Arab world bent on destroying the Middle East's only democracy. One of many articles focusing on the future of the country over the next 60 years recalls an 1897 meeting in Basle, Switzerland. when many of the world's Jewish leaders talked about a Jewish state in the future and it took World War II's Holocaust to lead to the birth of Eretz Yisrael. The story says Israel remains one of the most talked about and written about countries, something Rabbi Gaber agrees with. His endorsement of the issues written in the publication, with his name imprinted on the front page, indicates a strong commitment to Israel's struggle for survival against a hostile Arab world no matter how many Arab leaders say they want peace. A recent AIPAC summit meeting brought together many contemporary Jewish leaders to discuss how to prevent the destruction of the country and plan for the next 60 years. HM is certain that Rabbi Gaber and his rabbinical colleagues and Jewish leaders want the Jewish community to keep pressing for Israel's survival and to read the AIPAC articles.
JEFF VASSER COUNTS ON VISITOR STUDY TO ATTRACT MORE CONVENTION AND BUSINESS MEETINGS
Marketing Atlantic City as a destination place is the primary mission of the Convention and Visitors Authority. But that mission is exceeded by the Authority's objective to book more conventions and business meetings and to accomplish this depends greatly on a "Visitor Profile Study" with some positive data to guide AC's marketing campaign included in a 198-page report. "This report is essential and available by requesting it on the Authority's web site: http://www.atlanticcitynj.comabout/state.aspx. "As gambling opportunities proliferate throughout the region, having this data is essential," declared Jeff Vasser. Vasser goes on to say, "Atlantic City remains attractive because of other attributes including new attractions, ease of travel to AC, ease of parking, and ease of moving around the city once they arrive." According to Vasser, "the 2008 Visitor Profile Study reflects the challenges and opportunities that the business community and public sector need to address." The statistics from the study are available by contacting the above web site, advises Vasser, or calling media manager, Elaine Zamansky, at 449-7166
HM'S ELDER LAW CONSULTANT SAYS MEDICARE WON'T PAY FOR CERTAIN HOSPITAL ILLNESSES
If a senior develops certain illnesses while in the hospital, Medicare won't pay the bills, says HM's medical consultant Michael D. Weinraub, who practices in a Ventnor office at 6601 Ventnor Ave., 823-4900. Quoting the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Weinraub says, "If these illnesses and conditions develop in the hospital, the government's goal is to reduce the number of 'never events' - preventable medical errors that result in serious consequences for the patient starting this month."
