Joy Pearlman Barile, 50, of Linwood, passed away on Friday, Oct. 3, 2008. She was born in Atlantic City, grew up in Elkins Park, Pa., and was a longtime resident of Linwood.

Joy was very active in her community. She was a recipient of the Silver Sword Award from the American Cancer Society and she drove cancer patients for treatment for over 10 years. She was a dedicated volunteer for the March of Dimes where she was Team Leader and Captain of Erich's Angels. She was also a member of the RNS Cancer and Heart Fund, the Alcove Center for Grieving Children and Families, Congregation Beth Israel and the Beth Israel Sisterhood.

Joy was predeceased by her father, Bernard Caplan; her first husband, Michael Pearlman and her beloved son, Erich Nathan Pearlman. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Steven Barile; her beloved daughters, Rachel (Brian) Purnell and Samantha Pearlman; her loving mother, Lois Caplan Lambrakis and step-father John Lambrakis and her loving brother, Joseph Caplan. Joy will also be dearly missed by numerous loving friends.

Joy's secret to a life well lived was as follows: "Success in life can be attributed to a handful of good friends that you can count on and the love of family." Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 6, at Congregation Beth Israel, in Northfield. Interment was in Beth Israel Cemetery in Egg Harbor Township. Contributions in Joy's honor and memory may be made to Every Breath Counts, P.O. Box 209, Somers Point, NJ 08244. Arrangements were by Roth- Goldsteins' Memorial Chapel, Atlantic City.
