Shalom

All visitors and residents are invited to attend services at Temple Beth Shalom, "The Little Shul by the Sea," in Brigantine. Temple Beth Shalom is a conservative Synagogue led by Rabbi Gerald R. Fox. Services are held every Friday evening at 8 p.m., followed by an Oneg Shabbat. In addition, Saturday services will be heldon Oct. 11at10a.m.

WXPN's Gene Shay hosts pre-show interview with Grammy Award-winners The Klezmatics who tour the world performing wild, spiritual, provocative, reflective and ecstatically danceable music for audiences everywhere! On Saturday, Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. folk and world music fans can experience this unique group when the Klezmatics bring their joyful sound to Appel Farm Arts and Music Center in Elmer, NJ. Shay will host an exclusive preshow interview onstage at 6:45 p.m. with this intriguing group of musicians, who have collaborated with musical luminaries that include folk hero Arlo Guthrie, classical legend Itzhak Perlman, Israeli pop icons Chava Albertstein and Ehud Banay, Ben Folds Five, Allen Ginsberg and many more.

Deborah Hosts Annual Red Dress

Luncheon

Deborah Hospital Foundation will host its annual Red Dress Luncheon, a fundraiser that celebrates women's health, at The Mansion in Voorhees, on Sunday, Oct. 19, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The luncheon is an opportunity for women to take time and relax with their mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and friends and enjoy health screenings, an elegant heart healthy luncheon, browse a multitude of gift raffles, and learn the latest in women's nutrition, exercise, and health from Deborah's expert speakers. Tickets are $50 and all proceeds from the day benefit Deborah Heart and Lung Center, which in 86 years of specialty heart, lung, and vascular care has never billed a patient.

Join the JCC on October 24, for a private tour to Grounds for Sculpture a 35-acre public sculpture park in Hamilton, NJ dedicated to promoting an understanding of and appreciation for contemporary sculpture for all people. Sculptures in a variety of styles and media, including bronze, steel, stone, wood, concrete and mixed media are represented. The trip includes transportation, the private tour, admission to the grounds and a bagel brunch. The cost is $45 for JCC members & $65 for nonmembers. Beth Judah

Friday nights at Congregation Beth Judah now include Beth Judah Alive! and Beth Judah Alive! Unplugged service. Beth Judah Alive! is a fully instrumental Friday night service, while Beth Judah Alive! Unplugged is a more relaxed and mellow service which includes acoustic instruments.

"Both services are filled with lots of ruach (spirit) and will be uplifting. The music adds a special dimension to the traditional service, while maintaining the beauty of Shabbat," said Rabbi Aaron Gaber.

Dates are: Beth Judah Alive! Unplugged,. Nov. 7 and 21; Jan. 9 and 23; Feb. 13; March 13 and 27; May 22 and June 5.

Synagogue Tour

Located on Manhattan's Lower East Side, an immigrant portal for almost two centuries, 97 Orchard Street was home to an estimated 7,000 people from more than 20 nations between 1863 and 1935. Visitors tour carefully restored apartments and learn about the lives of actual past residents. In addition, we will visit and tour the Central Synagogue, a stunning architectural achievement. Central Synagogue is the oldest synagogue in continual usage in New York City. The design is loosely called "Moorish- Islamic Revival." The trip is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 27 and the package includes round trip transportation, bagel breakfast and a private tour of both locations. Cost is $60 for JCC members & $80 for non- members.
