Carly Cakert, daughter of Tom & Jill Cakert, Ventnor For more than two decades, the Henrietta Harris and Sadie Bernstine Fund has been awarding college scholarships to Atlantic City High School graduates of the Jewish faith.

These excellence-in-scholarship awards are based on need, scholastic achievement and involvement in Jewish activities.

To date, close to $2 million has been awarded. This year, the scholarship fund received more applicants than in past years. The fund, however, realilzed enough to award - in varying degrees - a four-year total (2008-2009) of $104,000 ($26,000 per school year).

The photos of the eight recipients were provided by Darlene Latham, Guidance Department of Atlantic City High School, who assisted in the slection process. Serving on the selection committee were Harvey Elfman, of Cherry Hill, and Karolyn Kilpatrick (Wachovia Bank) co-trustees, and Rose Strauss-Vender of Margate.
