JFS FOOD PANTRY RECEIVES DONATIONS FROM JCC CAMPERS
More than 30 campers ranging in age from 4 to 6 from the Milton & Betty Katz Jewish Community Center's Camp by the Sea recently helped restock our food pantry with canned goods to help feed the area's hungry. Leigh Turner, JFS Coordinator of Volunteer Services, was busy receiving the donations and explaining to the young campers how their act of kindness and generosity would help provide a good meal for people in our community who are hungry. Through the guidance of the JCC, JFS and the campers' parents, the children learned a valuable life lesson about helping the less fortunate. The excited young campers shared stories from home on how their parents supported their efforts and set good examples for them in their daily lives. Andrea Steinberg, JFS Executive Director said, "It is heartwarming to experience such young children performing mitzvot (acts of human kindness). As parents, we are responsible for training our children. They are the key to our mission's survival." |
