Author Tania Grossinger will kickoff Jewish Book Month for the Board of Jewish Education's ONE BOOK, ONE JEWISH COMMUNITY AT THE SHORE at the Milton and Betty Katz JCC on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. Join Tania as she discusses the reissue of GROWING UP AT GROSSINGER'S, an affectionate look back at the heyday of growing up a Grossinger in the Catskills. Ladies Luncheon

The Ruth Newman Shapiro Cancer and Heart Fund annual fall membership luncheon will be held at the Greate Bay Country Club on Thursday, Sept. 11. This yearly event features the annual Bag Ladies Luncheon. Each year the attendance has grown and is always a sell-out event.

The day begins with coffee and tea at 10:30 a.m. until noon, when those attending will view and bid at the silent auction of "gently used" and designer bags and new merchandise provided by the generous donations of the local merchants.

Bernie Robbins Fine Jewelers, the presenting sponsor, has again donated a beautiful Judith Lieber evening bag, valued at $2,000 for the raffle.

Luncheon will be served at 12:30 followed by the announcement of those who hold the winning bid on the designer bags, along with the announcement of the raffle winner.

Money raised benefits the many projects that RNS supports in the community, which include AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Shore Memorial Hospital, Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation and Cape Regional Medical Center.

Chairpersons for this event are Ellen Simon, Terry Calvi, Nancy Law and Joanne Reilly.

Stephen Kramer to speak at Golda Meir

Jewish Times columnist Stephen Kramer, a resident of Israel,willspeakattheGoldaMeir Hadassah meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Beth El Synagogue. The subject of his talk will be "Is Peace Possible?" He will discuss the many impediments to negotiating with the Arabs, then follow up with different and more appropriatewaystonegotiate.

It's wise to prepare for retirement for people of all ages, from their 40s, 50s and up. In an effort to educate the public, Lions Gate has partnered with professionals in senior care and advocacy to offer free informational seminars. Each seminar will be presented at Lions Gate, 1110 Laurel Oak Rd., Voorhees, N.J. The local community is invited to learn about brain health, managing stress,andthebasicsofelderlaw.

Temple Beth

Shalom

All visitors and residents are invited to attend services at Temple Beth Shalom, "The Little Shul by the Sea," in Brigantine. Temple Beth Shalom is a conservative Synagogue led by Rabbi Gerald R. Fox. Services are held every Friday evening at 8 p.m., followed by an Oneg Shabbat. In addition, Saturday services will be held on Sept. 13 and Oct. 11 at 10 a.m.

MAPS Foundation

The MAPS Foundation will present its 6th annual luncheon, "AnAmerican in Paris," on Sept. 17, at the Trump Taj Mahal, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $45 per person and includes a glass of wine, lunch, music, dance and song (broadway's finest), a fashion show (models from NBC40 and clothing by Tahari & Trump Exchange, with jewelry by Bernie Robbins).
