Jews must stand up for justice in the American workplace
      NEW YORK (JTA) — In August 2006, a worker at a Rite Aid Distribution Center in Lancaster, Calif., was fired. Her name was Debbie Fontaine. Her offense? Taking part in a campaign to organize a union. It's an incident that may not make many of us think about our responsibilities as Jews, but this Labor Day it should.

Israel Viewpoint Melissa's Birthright trip
      First of two parts Our cousin Melissa Goldman is staying with us for several days after finishing her 10-day Taglit-Birthright trip. ("Taglit" is the Hebrew name for Birthright.) The program was originated by Charles Bronfman and Michael Steinhardt as a way to spark an interest in Israel and Judaism by bringing Jewish youth here on free, dynamic visits.
