ROSE ARANOFF COHEN, 93
Rose Aranoff Cohen, beloved wife of Alfred S. Cohen, mother of Janice Weinreb, Barbara Yasgur and Benay Nesher, died on Aug. 14 in Jerusalem, Israel at age 93. Rose was born in Shenandoah, Pa. in 1915 where her family of 10 had a wholesale grocery. Alfred and Rose lived in Ventnor for over 50 years before moving to Israel. For the last five years they had been living in Jerusalem, Israel, carrying out a life long dream of living in the Holy Land where they were surrounded by two of their daughters, son-in-laws and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Rose was an active member of the Beth Judah Sisterhood, Rodef Shalom Sisterhood, Hadassah and Amit. She was a leader of Torah learning in her home and in the various organizations in which she was active. She was a supporter of the Hebrew Academy of Atlantic County, where her children were among the first students in the school. Rose and her husband Alfred were the proprietors of Polly's Dress Shop which was located on Atlantic Avenue for decades.
Rose had a dynamic personality and will be greatly missed by her large immediate and extended family and friends. She was the last survivor of her 7 siblings. The Aranoff family's strength and history will continue through the many seeds that they planted around the world from New York to Israel to Sydney, Australia.
