The Cantors Assembly Delaware Valley Region will present a musical variety program at Beth El Synagogue on Sunday evening, Aug 24. Cantors from this region and from all over the country will sing cantorial and other Jewish pieces as soloists, duets and in an ensemble directed by Cantor David Tillman from Beth Sholom Elkins Park.

Featured artist will be internationally known Alberto Mizrahi. Local Cantors Alan Smolen and Larisa Averbakh will also be featured. Host Cantor Ralph Goren and his choir will present a tribute to the music of Cantor Artie Singer, who wrote liturgical music for Beth El and was active in the secular music world - his most famous song was "At The Hop" produced by Dick Clark.

Other prominent cantors featured include David Propis, Alisa Pomerantz Boro and Rebecca Carmi. National President Joe Gole and Executive Vice President Steve Stein will greet the crowd. Cantor Gole is at Sinai Temple in Los Angeles along with Beth El's own Cantor Arianne Brown who is cocantor there and was a protege of Cantor Singer. Cantor Stein's sister is Stockton's Professor Marcia Fiedler.

The concert is part of a two-day retreat where the cantors will be studying, rehearsing and socializing at Caesars. The Cantors Assembly's national officers will be having their meetings over the course of the retreat. Tickets for the concert are available at Beth El, Beth Judah and Beth Israel.
