MARC ROSENBERG, 52

2008-08-08 / Obituaries

Marc Rosenberg, 52, of Margate, a husband, father, son and brother devoted beyond words to the people he loved, and excited beyond expression about the possibilities he was able to explore in his trade, died suddenly in an accident on Thursday, July 31. Marc graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1974 and earned a B.S. in Finance from Boston University in 1978, graduating Summa Cum Laude. As the Chief Operating Officer of APG International, he built a local glazing firm into a multifaceted international construction firm. Among their local projects are the Borgata Water Tower, Atlantic City Convention Center and Harrah's Atlantic City. A problem solver who reveled in a challenge, Marc joyfully pushed the boundaries of his business and traveled around the world to pursue his goals.

As a dedicated member of his community, he served on the board of the Jewish Community Center for many years, and as a lover of literature and poetry, he was nominated to a position on the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, which he accepted and where he was currently serving. Marc was a lifelong member of Congregation Beth Israel. As an intellectually curious person and a student of philosophy, he was an observant and proud Jew who followed in the Spinozan pantheist tradition. For Marc, God was the combination of all things and in all things was God. He was a true humanitarian and a promoter of human welfare, in ideology and in practice. This principle guided his strong political views. Marc was an ardent liberal and an outspoken Democrat. He liked Bill Clinton. He never shied away from an opportunity to endorse or defend his views. He was a believer in the American political process, the American Dream, and the American people. Always an athlete, Marc wore number 50 as a linebacker for Atlantic City High School football and was selected to the All State Team. He achieved the rank of Brown Belt in Tae Kwon Do at the Ninja Karate Academy in Ventnor and was training for his Black Belt.

Marc was predeceased by his father, Harry. He is survived by his wife, Patti, son Reed, daughter Zoe, mother Debra, sister Shelly (Mario) DeLuca, brothers, Eric (Robin) and David Rosenberg, nephews, Michael DeLuca, Maxx and Zak Rosenberg, and niece Marissa DeLuca, and cousins like brothers, Steven, Gary, Ricky and David Sinderbrand and their families. Services were held, Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Congregation Beth Israel, in Northfield. Contributions may be made to the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, 28 West State St., 6th Floor, Trenton, NJ 08608 and Congregation Beth Israel. Arrangements were by Roth-Goldsteins' Memorial Chapel, Atlantic City.
