JCC presents an evening of Middle Eastern drumming

Bishara Naddaf Bishara Naddaf The Milton and Betty Katz Jewish Community Center presents a Rhythmic Evening of Middle Eastern Drumming on Wednesday, July 30.

Bishara Naddaf, from Nazareth, Israel will lead a 6 p.m. Interactive Drumming Workshop followed by a 7p.m. performance. Bishara is the charismatic percussionist of the Jewish-Arab Ensemble in the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. He performs across Israel delivering a musical message of hope for peace between the Arab and Jewish Israeli populations. He is a consultant to the Israel Ministry of Education in the field of training music teachers.

Naddaf has performed in over 20 countries and his television appearances have included broadcasts across the Middle East and a recent concert at Carnegie Hall. The Arab/Jewish Ensemble comprises only a part of Naddaf's professional service dedicated to the mission of peace and coexistence. He also frequently performs in concert and teaches for the organization Peace Child Israel, which is dedicated to "Teaching Israeli Jewish and Arab youth to live together."

Naddaf's professional contributions to this cause include his participation in recording Shlomo Gronich's "Volunteers for Peace" a unique musical collaboration of Arab and Jewish musicians that has been designated Peace Child Israel's anthem. The cost is $12 for members; $18 for nonmembers, and includes workshop and concert.
