HENRY COHEN, 89
Henry Cohen, 89, of Margate, passed away at home on June 24, 2008. Born in Atlantic City, he was a lifelong shore resident. Henry graduated from Atlantic City High School and achieved his degree in Accounting from the University of Pennsylvania in 1940. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps with the 23rd Fighter Group 14th Air Force in China from 1943-1945.
Henry had a distinguished career in the field of insurance which spanned nearly 60 years. Along with his partner, Morris Batzer, Henry operated Batzer Insurance Service for over 40 years. He later was the Executive Vice-President of Bayly Martin and Fay, which later became Rollins Hudig Hall.
Henry was a tireless leader in the Jewish Community and the community at large. He was a former President of the Jewish Federation and Congregation Beth Judah and he also served for many years as the Chairman of the Federation Foundation. He was a former chair of the Red Cross campaign, a Vice- President of the Jewish Community Center, a director of Best of Life Park and the longtime treasurer and devoted member of Linwood Country Club.
Henry is survived by his beloved wife, Bernice Cohen. He is also survived by his devoted children, Paul (Geri) Cohen and Larry (Terry) Cohen and his beloved grandchildren, Sally, Aaron, Michael and Sarah.
Funeral services were held at Congregation Beth Judah in Ventnor. Interment was in the Beth Judah section of Beth Kehillah Cemetery in Egg Harbor Township.
