Andrea Altman, of Mount Laurel and Margate City, died suddenly on Thursday, June 19, 2008. She was 35.

Andrea was born in Philadelphia and raised in Longport and Margate, New Jersey. Andrea attended the Hebrew Academy and Atlantic City High School. She was selected as Poet Laureate of New Jersey while in her senior year at Atlantic City High School. Andrea attended Space Camp and was the Dodge Foundation Recipient. She was recognized as a Presidential Scholar in the Arts, and was honored at the White House by President George H.W. Bush. Andrea attended Tulane University and was a graduate of Cabrini College.

She was involved in Operation Friendship, bringing Jews and Blacks together in several parts of the world. Andrea was a supporter of Israel, and visited many times. Andrea will be remembered for her generosity and caring. She was a gifted writer and devoted to friends and family.

She is survived by her devoted husband and best friend, Dr. Daniel Winston Altman, her beloved parents Gail and Robert Rosenthal, her wonderful sister, Toby Greenberg, brother-in-law, Ted Greenberg and the newest light of her life, niece, Shoshanna Greenberg. She is also survived by her adoring in-laws, Barbara and Edward Altman and sisterin law, Jennifer Altman.

Funeral services were held at Congregation Beth Judah, on Sunday, June 22. Burial was at Rodef Sholom Cemetery. Donations in Andrea's name may be made to Chabad House, Jewish Family Service, or a charity of choice. Arrangements were by Roth- Goldsteins' Memorial Chapel, Atlantic City.
